Chaceley Village Hall

Built in 1857, Chaceley Village Hall was originally the village school until it closed in 1923.

It became the community Village Hall in 1980 and was subsequently re-purposed following a grant from Gloucestershire Environment Trust.

Chaceley Village Hall is a registered charity (#282185) with Trustees and a standing Committee entrusted to maintain the hall for the benefit of our community for events, meetings, lectures, classes and recreation.

The Hall hosts Parish Council and Village Hall Committee meetings.

It is also the designated Polling Station for local and national Elections.

In times of local flooding, the Hall and its facilities (including parking) are opened as a Community refuge for Chaceley villagers.

in 2003 an extensive programme of restoration was carried out. The roof was lined and retiled, and a disabled toilet facility installed.

In 2021, the ‘next generation’ refurbishment programme was initiated. New heating and lighting and a new kitchen were fitted with the assistance of grants from local government..

Further work to improve the facilities - in particular extended storage - is being planned .

All this work was designed to bring the hall up to 21st Century standards to make this historic village building an attractive, convenient Community Hub for use by villagers and other hirers all year round.

In March 2023 the Village Hall was generously awarded ‘Community Hub’ status by Gigaclear, bringing business-standard full fibre WIFI to the Hall. This facility now allows users free access to WIFI on the premises and has expanded the potential usage of the building substantially.

There is a premises license covering the Hall for the sale and provision of alcohol as well as live performances and the playing of music.

Throughout the year a number of fundraising events are held in the Hall and Grounds which attract residents from Chaceley and visitors from neighbouring villages and further afield.

In 2022, to celebrate the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee a ‘Beacon Lighting’ evening party and the ‘The Chaceley Big Lunch’ were held over the weekend. And a tree was planted in support of the Queen’s Green Canopy project.

More recently, in May 2023 the village joined the national celebration of King Charles III accession to the throne with a ‘Coronation Beacon Lighting’ and ‘The Big Coronation Lunch’.

A programme of autumn and winter events is also held, including The Christmas Tree Lighting party, topical lectures/talks and the popular, always fiercely competitive Chaceley Quiz Nights.

For information on upcoming events, go to the ‘Social’ page on this website.

The hall is available for hire to Chaceley residents and non-residents for one-off events or regular activities, for just a few hours, the evening, or for the whole day.

The function room is efficiently heated and well lit.

There is a good quality wooden floor - ideal for dance or yoga activities.

Tables and chairs are included for use by hirers.

About 50 people can be comfortably accommodated inside the Hall.

In addition to the function room, the facilities include a newly installed modern kitchen with electric hob, oven and a battery of kitchen items and utensils such as kettles and water urns.

Also available for hire are wine glasses, plates, cups, bowls, cutlery etc.

The main function room has a fire exit and the facilities are covered by appropriate business and event insurance.

Potential hirers should consult the Terms & Conditions of Hire available from the Village Hall Secretary to ensure that they satisfy and cover their specific requirements prior to booking.

There is private outside garden space and (2) marquees can be hired for event use.

The Village Hall grounds are well maintained with good-sized lawned gardens - ideal for kids games or garden parties.

A substantial gas BBQ is also available to hire given notice.

So, if you are looking for somewhere to hold a meeting, a birthday, wedding or anniversary party, a regular club or society activity or classes such as yoga, photography, painting, bridge or dance - Chaceley Village Hall is a great venue.
